Il Ray Tracing it is a technology that makes it possible to make the brightness within three-dimensional animations dynamic, and therefore very realistic (for example, allowing the visualization of “real” reflections on the glasses reproduced in 3D environments).
It has been used for a long time within professional 3D rendering software, but in recent years it has forcefully entered the videogame market, following the development by NVIDIA of some video cards that support this mode.
Minecraft announced in August 2019 the implementation of Ray Tracing in the version for Windows 10 of the game (let's talk about the version Bedrock), activating a program of Beta which allowed users with compatible computers to play on worlds developed to support the new graphics function.
Starting with version 1.16.200 of the game, Ray Tracing is present in the options of every version of Minecraft for Windows 10, so there is no longer a need to participate in the Beta program to try it.
If you intend to test this version of the game, you will need a fairly powerful computer though, as the minimum requirements to activate RTX are quite high.
Specifically, you will need an NVIDIA RTX Series 20 or Series 30 graphics card. NVIDIA RTX 2060, released in 2018, is the first video card compatible with Ray Tracing technology.
You will also need a processor of at least one Intel i5, a version of Windows 10 64-bit, At least 2GB of disk space and at least 8GB RAM.
The features are for high-end computers, but if you own a machine with these features, you can't miss the new version of this game. Read on to find out how to do it in detail.
In case you were wondering, at the moment there is no official package for the activation of Ray Tracing on the version Java of MinecraftHowever, thanks to the mods released by the community, it is possible to achieve similar effects. In particular, I recommend that you take a look at the shaderpack SEUS (Sonic Ether’s Unbelievable Shaders), which is currently still in its embryonic development stage but looks promising. More information on Minecraft shaders can be found in my dedicated tutorial.
as to console version of Minecraft, even if the latest generation consoles, like Xbox Series X (made by Microsoft, which also owns Minecraft) e PS5 support technologies similar to RTX, for the moment no updates have been announced that introduce their use within the game. I will update this guide as soon as there are news in this regard.
